Flight School Takes Off
The Pocatello City Council has approved a lease agreement with Oregon-based Pureflight Aviation, LLC to establish a flight training center at the Pocatello Regional Airport. This initiative, facilitated by the Bannock Development Corporation and city officials over the past 18 months, aims to address the increasing demand for pilots.
Pureflight Aviation offers professional pilot programs for both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, each taking about a year and costing $66,000 and $94,000, respectively. Pureflight has over 40 years experience of professional flight training and thousands of students have become certified aviators through their accredited program.
Examples of their certification options are Private Pilot License (PPL), Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and Instrument Rating.
Private Pilot Licenses allows you to fly helicopters. It’s often the first step towards a Commercial Pilot Certificate. The Commercial Pilot License expands a pilots training into advance maneuvers and skills that allow a pilot to entered paid work for their flying time. Instrument Training is a highly sought after and valuable accolade that means you can fly in a variety of weather conditions and different situations.
MiaCate Kennedy from Bannock Development Corporation highlighted the program’s potential to inspire local youth to pursue aviation careers, while Airport Manager Alan Evans emphasized its convenience for aspiring pilots in the region. Pureflight Aviation plans to begin operations within the next month.
Pureflight is a very rare and valuable education program. The nation has very few accredited flight schools with the ability to have all the certifications, equipment and programs housed underneath a single locations for training. It adheres to their focus as a tailored focus towards the students and the focus on a student environment so he or she is getting the best possible aviation education.
